We have had an excellent level of interest in the trip to North Berwick on the 4th February from those who want to play some/all of the game and others who just want to come for the craic. My intention is to fill a 50 seater coach and have a great day out, in a traditional rugby trip style. All-comers are welcome so invite friends, players or just rugby enthusiast with a sense of humour, to join us (come on you captains of industry, this is a corporate entertainment opportunity with a twist-Johnny D, get to work..) . I would like to have a playing squad of 25-30 so we can accommodate those who would like to get out their boots for one last time and appear for upwards of 10 minutes of glory!

The coach will leave Novos at 10am, stop off in Berwick for a pint and a fish supper, then proceed to North Berwick RFC where the players will take performance-enhancing inhalers/statins/port, and the supporters will loosen their vocal cords with a further aperitif. After the game both groups will ease their sore ribs with a drink in the bar watching the 6 Nations international at 5pm, returning to town by 9.30pm and the comfort of a curry house.

The total cost of the bus is around £600 and will be divided between the passengers on the day, so get recruiting. We’ve got about 20 positive responses so far. I will be asking for a commitment of £10 as we get into the new year to secure your place.

• Head of resuscitation
• Line out calls designer
• Head of non-players
• Kitty man/treasurer

I will conduct an election on the bus for each office, but I would like your nominations in advance, please. Confidential expressions of interest to me by email ASAP.
