Saturday Night Lights 1900 vs Darlington

Magnus Leask14 Dec - 09:37

The 1's travel to Darlington for an evening kick off in what is expected to be a cracker of a match.

1's squad away to Darlington - meet at 1630
Ben Rodgers, Rhys Gibbons, Tom Taylor, Jeremy Hunt, Jonny Allton, Darren Kelly, Simeon Archibald, Rob Baldwin, Rhys Merlane, Josh Farley, Lewis Chater, Sam Bird, Harry Tankard, Sam Cleife, Sam Busby (capt) James Moore, Seb Shilling, Greg Wills

2's squad home to Gateshead - meet at 1245
Vuyo Nossa-Yabantu, Arthur Wallis, Ian Wood, Eddie Mason, Owen Reece-Jones, Dylan Mills (capt) Sully Ismail, George Jowitt, Christian Selkirk, Matthew Russell, Ross Cleminson, Sam Ogilvie, Dan Vicary, Ben Hawkins, Adam Lambert, Sasan Shazady, Adam Longstaff, Gregor Stirling, Lex Leonard

A few last minute adjustments made to the squad which is usual given the time of year. As such, Sam Busby takes over the captaincy with George Bambrick on his last week of GRTP and Ben Jubb checking out the pyramids.

Ben Rodgers comes in for Morgan Scrace who has returned to the valleys for xmas. He will be a big miss as was in great form and is to finally have his knee op in the new year. We wish him a swift recovery. That means another opportunity for James Moore who comes back into the squad to complete our front row options on the bench.

Jonny Allton returns after missing last week, allowing us to slide pack leader Darren Kelly across to six. This creates a well balanced back row with the lineout exploits of Simeon Archibald and the ball carrying ability of Rob Baldwin completing the trio.

With it being a night game Josh Farley comes into start alongside regular scrum half Rhys Merlane. They will be charged with putting the Vos pack into the right areas of the field.

Changes in midfield with the absence of Ben Jubb and still banned Michael Searle. Sam Bird comes in to get us over the gain line, creating space for the speedsters in Sam Cleife, Harry Tankard, the hot stepper Sam Busby and the mercurial Lewis Chater.

A top 18 is finished off with the return of talented back rower Set Shilling, back from uni a few days earlier than the other lads. Greg Wills, finishes off the squad and the powerful runner will be hoping for some opportunities late in the game.

The 2's host Gateshead in an off and on again game which has resulted in some lads not being available. An incredible 28 lads unavailable across the top two sides. However, we show our depth with a strong 18 selected including a guest appearance from Gregor Stirling !

The 3's front row are helping out in the absence of the regular 2's boys - Vuyo, Arthur and Woody charged with winning the scrum battle. Two big boys behind them in the engine room in Owen Reece-Jones and Eddie Mason.

Congrats to Dylan Mills who will captain the side today with regular captains Alex Cokeley absent and Greg Wills called into the 1's.

Very talented back line on display under the leadership of Christian Selkirk and Matthew Russell. Great balance in the middle with play maker Sam Ogilvie returning from NZ and the hard running Dan Vicary.

Some talent on the bench with a guest appearance from ex first teamer Gregor Stirling. Amazing to get ex Vos lads let us know they are in the city for the weekend and put on a shirt once again. Be some sight to see him come on side by side with Lex Leonard in the second half !

Enjoy the games boys and give it everything.
