Alex Littlefair's Sponsored Bike Ride For SDSUK

Alex Littlefair's Sponsored Bike Ride For SDSUK

Ben Jubb18 Mar - 15:11

Former Novos captain Alex Littlefair will be completing a sponsored ride over 3 days from the 10th - 12th of April in memory of Rycroft Alport Foster

In just under a months time, former player and captain Alex Littlefair (2013-18) is doing a charity cycle ride from Novos to Old Colfeians RFC in South East London over 3 days (Thursday 10, Friday 11 and Saturday, 12 April 2025) to raise money for SDS (Shwachman Diamond Syndrome) UK. The ride is in memory of Rycroft Alport-Foster who had SDS and died aged 16 months. Alex played rugby with Rycroft’s dad Andrew, at university.

On day one Alex is cycling from Newcastle to Bradford via the Quayside, Middlesbrough and Leeds (so he can drop in at the various homes of Trinity Chambers where he practices from and who are sponsoring the ride).

On day two Alex is cycling from the home of Bradford Bulls at Odsal to Cambridge (to call in at the ground where him and Andrew played together). The route 165 miles and longer than any single stage of this year’s Tour de France (although Alex points out he will be going considerably more slowly and that there are fewer mountains! (0)).

One day 3 Alex will travel from Cambridge to London to deliver the match ball for a rugby tournament which is raising money in memory of Rycroft and SDS.

On behalf of Alex and the club as a whole, we would be grateful if you are able to spare even a small amount for a brilliant cause. You can do so by copy and pasting the following link and if you can't donate then a share would be equally as well appreciated!

If, you would like to learn more about SDS then alternatively follow the link below which contains links to Anthony Nolan, the British Bone Marrow Registry and DKMS:

Whilst Schwachman-Diamond Syndrome is rare, bone marrow donation and registers are important to SDS UK and it has this in common with other diseases such as blood disorders and cancers.

Alex would also be grateful for any donations. If any Novo, or anyone involved in the community wishes to join for part or the whole of a stage they should get in touch with either Alex or the club!
